Formula: NH3, R717

Ammonia is a colorless alkaline gas. It is formed in the body during decomposition of organic materials during a large number of metabolically important reactions.

Note that the aqueous form of ammonia is referred to as ammonium hydroxide. Ammonia takes part of deposit silicon nitride by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) in semiconductor and advanced materials manufacturing. Gaseous ammonia was first isolated by Joseph Priestley in 1774 and was termed by him “alkaline air”. Eleven years later, in 1785, Claude Louis Berthollet ascertained its composition.
